The first Flaxroots Technology conference was held in Wellington with 230 people participating from throughout the country.

The conference was organised by: Department of Internal Affairs - Community Development Group, WINZ - Community Employment, Island Bay Community Network, Joint Presbyterian-Methodist Public Questions Committee, NZ Citizens Advice Bureau, Sustainable Wellington Net, and others.
