 tohu - koorero
The tohu is comprised of three elements
- The koru that extends into the future represents the opportunities that technology holds for people.
- The koru that is facing the past represents the maaori ideology that says maaori walk into the future facing backwards. This allows maaori to look carefully at the past and learn from the experiences of our tuupuna. This theme also carries us into the next element.
- Whakapapa, the three koru facing down on each other represent whakapapa, our tuupuna, our tuurangawaewae, our 'flaxroots' and ultimately our identity. It is whakapapa that gives us our mana and our strength for our tuuranga in te ao marama.
